Your dough stays yours
The short version: your recipes stay in your browser, and we use Google Analytics to see how many people visit.
What we collect
SourdoughRatio has no accounts, no sign-up and no forms that send data to a server. The numbers you type into the calculator are processed on your device and never uploaded. The only data collected is the anonymous usage data described under “Analytics and cookies” below.
What’s saved on your device
To remember your display choices, the site uses your browser’s local storage (separate from analytics cookies). This stays on your device only:
- Your theme (light, dark or system) and whether you use Simple or Advanced mode.
The numbers you type into the calculators are not saved: they reset to the defaults whenever you reload a page. You can remove the saved choices at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics (Google tag, measurement ID G-XY9EW8ZL60) to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are from, and what device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address and the address of the page you visit. We use this only for aggregate statistics, not to identify you, and we don’t use advertising tools or sell your data.
The numbers you type into the calculators are not sent to Google Analytics. The exception is a share link: because the “Copy link” button puts the recipe in the page address, opening such a link sends that address to Google Analytics like any other page address.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’sbrowser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Google is an independent controller of the data it receives and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Fonts
The site’s typefaces (Geist and Fraunces) are served from this site itself, so loading them does not involve Google Fonts. Google is contacted only for the analytics described above.
Share links
The “Copy link” button puts your recipe inside the link itself. Nothing is stored on our side, but anyone you send the link to can read the recipe, and the web server that hosts this site may record the address of any page that is requested, as most servers do. Only share links you’re happy to share.
Hosting
The site is served by a hosting provider, which may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and reliability. We don’t use those logs to identify visitors.
Contacting us
If you email us, we’ll use your address only to reply. Nothing is sent from this site itself; the Contact page just shows our address. To ask us to delete an email you’ve sent, write to contact@sourdough-ratio.com.
Children
SourdoughRatio is a general-audience baking tool. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works in a way that affects your privacy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
